Biographie

Andrew is one of the most recorded trumpeters for film soundtracks in the world, with the number currently around 400. From the Mask of Zorro, the credited solos on The Legend of Bagger Vance to the last 3 James Bond movies, he is applauded by many composers, arrangers and colleagues for his vibrant sound and versatility.
He has also played for many pop artist albums: Tina Turner, Sting, Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Williams and in addition, featured as a soloist on various – notably the album Travelogue by Joni Mitchell.
His live performances are equally eclectic, which include London Brass (whom he manages), concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra (principal trumpet) to the world of big band and rock, featuring Quincy Jones and Peter Gabriel.
He has recorded many albums with London Brass and also produced their last CD – Surprise. In 2004 he recorded Bach’s second Brandenburg Concerto with the ECO.

As a former principal player with leading contemporary ensemble, The London Sinfonietta, Andrew featured and premiered hundreds of new works at the South Bank and festivals throughout the world.

More recently, he has become active as a conductor, performing at the opening summer series concert Pictures At An Exhibition at the Stagione Estiva, Rome, with the brass and percussion of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. This year (2010) he will conduct and direct London Brass at the Proms
He has been a professor at the Royal College of Music since 1993.
