David King leads Eikanger Bjorsvik Musikklag to victory at the Norwegian National Brass Band Championships
Eikanger Bjorsvik Musikklag were crowned 2014 Norwegian National Champion at the recent Norwegian National Brass Band Championships under the direction of internationally renowned Yamaha Cornet artist and Advisory Consultant, Professor David King.
After beating off stiff competition from some of Norway’s top bands, Eikanger secured its 15th title and also won the prestigious King’s Cup.
The result at this year’s competition ensures that Eikanger will have the honour of representing Norway at the 2015 European Championships which will take place in Freiburg, Germany.
Professor David King has been an integral part of the development of Yamaha’s Neo series which will see the newest member join at this year’s Musikmesse in Frankfurt.
Having been there from the start, David has played a key role in ensuring that the direction of the Neo range remained true to the ‘solar sound’ concept of warmth and brightness combined with projection and personality.
Also at this year’s Championships were a number of other Yamaha Artists. Playing Solo Cornet for Eikanger was cornet artist, Dennis Vork. Russell Gray conducted Molde Brass in the First Division Championships, Philip McCann conducted Sola Brass who competed in the Elite Division and tuba artist, Eirik Gjerdevik played with Bjørsvik Brass who finished 4th in the Elite Division.
Yamaha would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Professor King on this achievement and wish him good luck as he leads Eikanger out at the 2014 European Brass Band Championships in Perth, Scotland on the 2nd & 3rd of May.
