The new Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple Drums
A new set of Yamaha Drums combining flexibility, expressive power and high-end sound ...
It´s 2014 and YAMAHA DRUMS proudly presents the new Absolute Maple Hybrid drum set.
The name and the aim of these drums follow the same vision: Be flexible & open-minded. Be convertible in your playing and your sound. Be dynamic and prepared for different sounds and experiments. Such is the Absolute Hybrid Maple. One day you want to hit hard, so tune it down and deep. The next you´d like to hear the smooth reaction to your easy and relaxed playing, tune it up and feel the quick response. Either style, these drums deliver a more musical tone that is rich and clear, regardless of the dynamics you play them.
The vision for the new Absolute Hybrid Maple has been formed at Yamaha´s experienced Product Development in Japan and has come to life in Yamahas new high-end manufactory in Hangzhou, China. It has become a place where innovations are pushed to the next level by our experienced engineers in cooperation with high-level Yamaha Artists. This unique cooperation is determined to develop new systems and new combinations of timber until everyone is content and satisfied with quality and sound.
Combining two types of wood results in the great, warm and open sound which is created by the combination of a core ply of Wenge, a very hard and heavy wood native to Africa, sandwiched between piles of Maple, well known from previous Yamaha series` for its clear tone. Another revolutionary step is changing from the Y.E.S.S. II tom mount to the new Y.E.S.S. III. It reduces acoustic dampening even further, allowing the shell to vibrate more freely and bringing out more of the shell´s natural sustain and volume.
In the following video, 2 musicians from two different backgrounds play the kit for you to hear. Jamiroquai´s Derrick McKenzie and Richard Spaven of José James and Flying Lotus, both resume after intensive use: „The new Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple sounds warmer and even more lively, comparing to the former Absolute Maple shells”.
Check at your Yamaha Drums Dealer from April 2014 on to convince yourself of the quality, versatility and big, warm sound.
