Nominated Adami 2005 Classical Revelation, then Indésens Revelation in 2008, Romain Leleu, trained by Eric Aubier, definitely deserves his place among the representative artists that belong to today’s major French trumpet players.
Biographie
One of the most gifted of his generation, Romain Leleu has won several international competitions : Chamber Music in 2005 in Lyon, European Musical Interpretation competition in 2000 in Moulins-sur-Allier, semi-finalist and special award in interpretation of the Finnish Brass Symphony at the International competition : Raimo Sarmas “Lieksa Brass Week” in Finlande in 1999. He also won in 1998 the international competition: Festival Musicald’Automne de Jeunes Interpretes.
Born in Lille in 1983, he begun his musical studies at the age of six, and succeeded with brio his the Paris CNSM entry, at the age of fifteen, where he won first prize for trumpet and then for chamber music with “excellent” as commendation, unanimously, in 2003 and 2005. Reinhold Friedrich notices him and offers that he give masterclasses at the Karlsruhe Hochschule fur Musik in Germany. Romain Leleu is often invited to music festivals : Flaneries Musicales of Reims, Festival of Saint-Denis, Auvers-sur-Oise, Pablo Casals of Prades, the Festival Estival of Annecy, as well as abroad.
He performs as soloist with the following orchestras : Bretagne, Regional of Cannes PACA, the Colonne concerts, the Ensemble Orchestral de Normandie, Les Solistes de Paris… Since 2002, Romain Leleu won the Meyer Foundation, was invited to several radio and TV shows, such as Cordes sensibles, La cour des grands, l’Atelier on France Musique, Carrefours de Lodéon on France Inter, Nouveaux talents on Direct 8 and France 3.
In 2000 he sets up Feeling Brass Quintet, a brass ensemble, that is considered as one of the major brass ensembles today in France. It performs very often at the Salle Gaveau, Auditorium de Lyon, Opéra National de Lyon, Maison de Radio-France, Festival des Grands Crus de Bourgogne,Yamaha Brass Festival, Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise, Festival des Abbayes...
In 2006/2007, Feeling Brass Quintet was chosen by Cultures France, to benefit from the Declic programme, partners with Radio France and Mecenat Musical Societe Generale.
Romain Leleu, thanks to his first album of original works for trumpet and piano, inaugurates the Révélations Indésens collection.
The Révélations Indésens collection has been created for the music lovers around the world willing to discover the artists who represent today’s prestigious French trumpet players.
