Statement about your relation with Yamaha or your instrument:

The relationship with Yamaha is one of respect, motivation to continue growing, and pride in representing one of the world's greatest musical institutions.

How does your instrument help you in your daily life as an artist?

It gives me confidence and peace of mind. Its sound, tuning and ergonomics are elements I can rely on, giving me the confidence to concentrate on strictly musical aspects. Being able to free myself from technical concerns is fundamental to the way I convey music. And my Yamaha allows me to do just that.

How would you characterise your instrument?

I would highlight its enveloping sound, with an enormous palette of colours and impressive elasticity to integrate into different tonal situations.

Who was your most influential teacher and is there any advice which you still follow?

Musically, I have many influences, but in the field of saxophone, there are two brilliant saxophonists who have had a huge impact on me: Nobuya Sugawa and J. Y. Fourmeau. Two brilliant people in every sense, whose playing has taken the saxophone in a wonderful direction and who continue to be a source of inspiration to this day!

Advice for a young musician:

That patience and perseverance are great virtues, that musical honesty is extremely important, that believing in your own projects is essential to achieving your goals, and never stop wanting to learn, from the greatest, and also from your regular colleagues. It's all part of the process, and giving up is not an option!
